Utah Cancer Control Program A Unified Cancer Prevention Approach

Utah Cancer Control Program Description

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Mortality Prevention Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-354) established the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. This program provides breast and cervical cancer screening exams to underserved women, including those who:

  • are older,
  • have low incomes, and/or
  • are members of racial and ethnic minority groups.

The Utah branch of this program is known as the Utah Cancer Control Program, or UCCP.

Since the beginning of the UCCP, Utah has received funding to expand its screening services and promote awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
