Utah Cancer Control Program A Unified Cancer Prevention Approach

What is breast cancer?

Breast cancer is cancer that occurs in the breast, either the milk glands or the ducts which the milk travels through. Cancer that forms in the milk glands is called lobular carcinoma. Cancer that forms in the milk ducts is called ductal carcinoma.

Breast cancer leads to the development of lumps, called tumors, in the breast. These lumps are found through mammograms. When women get mammograms regularly, breast cancers are found early when they are easier to treat.

If you notice changes in one or both breasts, please consult a doctor to determine the possibility of cancer.
